Promise Law Motto
The Cub Law
The
Cub
respects the Old Wolf *,
The
Cub
respects him/herself.
* an "Old
Wolf" refers to a leader or any respected adult
By
respect, we hope that a Cub will learn to obey those in authority --
leaders, parents, teachers, police, etc. We hope that a Cub will also
learn some judgement, to discern between doing smart things and doing
dumb things. How does a Cub respect him- or herself? By not doing dumb
things, taking care of his or her body and mind -- good eating habits,
exercise, learning, and having fun.
The Cub Promise
I
promise to do my best
To
love
and serve God, to do my duty to the Queen;
To
keep
the law of the Wolf Cub pack,
And to
do a good turn for somebody every day.
What
does this mean? A Cub doesn't have to be the very best at
everything, but a Cub is supposed to try to do the best job possible at
all times. A Cub should follow the requirements of his or her personal
religion; should obey the rules and laws put in place to help the pack,
the school, and society; and should help other people.
The Cub Motto
Do
Your
Best
During
every Grand Howl, Cubs are reminded of this part of the promise
when they howl "DYB, DYB, DYB, DYB."
